The 3rd Hospitality Night program will be held on Sunday, August 23rd at 8 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center.
“Rumor Clinic”—a series of slides utilized to study rumors will be shown with Mr. H. Lazarus of the Los Angeles office of the Anti-Defamation League being the discussion leader. Social dancing and refreshments will conclude the program. The B’nai B’rith Co-ordinating council will co-host the program with the center.

A Beach Party will be held Sunday, August 23 at 6:00 p.m. at 3455 Ocean Front, Mission Beach. There will be a wiener roast, swimming, and games. The tariff is $1.00. Make reservations by calling T-0190 or R-7495.

Plans for the 1953-54 bowling season will soon be announced.
The league bowls on Tuesday nights at the Cedar Lanes Bowling Alley.

Members and their friends are cordially invited to attend the Third Open Meeting of the Cottage of Israel on Sunday, August 30, at 8 p.m. at Beth Jacob Auditorium.
New officers for 1953-54 will be introduced at this meeting and an excellent musical program has been arranged by Miss Esther Weitzman. This will consist of selections for oboe and piano played by Milton Levine and Harold Zabrack and songs by Miss Audrey Hurst, soprano. Two Israeli films will also be shown “Transition” and “House in the Desert.”
The committee working to arrange this annual meeting has been Martha Feiler, Bess Borushek, and Fred Yaruss with Esther Weitzman, program chairman. Members of our regular hostess committee, Betty Cohan, Rose Weitzman, and Alma Yaruss, will serve refreshments following the meeting.
A reminder is also made of the annual Moonlight Fiesta to be held on the lawns of the House of Pacific Relations on Sunday, August 23 at 5:30 p.m. Those interested in attending should bring their supper refreshments which they can eat while watching the continuous musical and dancing program arranged by the various Cottages.

Mrs. Sam Weiss, President of the S.D. Birdie Stodel Chapter No. 92, invites B’nai B’rith members and friends to the next regular meeting of the Chapter, Monday evening, 8 p.m. August 24th, at Temple Center. It is most urgent that everyone attend, as there are matters of important business to be discussed. First on the agenda is nomination and election of a second vice-president. Delegates will give a report on recent District No. 4 B’nai B’rith Convention.

Wednesday, August 26th from two to four is Temple Beth Israel sisterhood’s Open House and Tea held in the beautiful gardens of the new Temple House at Third and Maple Streets.
In keeping with the coming season Mrs., A. I. Dickman and Mrs. Alex Cohn, decorations chairmen will present an eye pleasing décor in the lovely fall tones of yellow and brown.
Mrs. Joseph Schwartz and Mrs. Sol Brown, co-chairmen of the Tea, and their program chairman, Mrs. Richard Silberman, have a musical treat for all of us. Miss Jean Whelan, currently with the Starlight Opera Company, and who had the starring role in Finian’s Rainbow will give a number of vocal selections and Esther Jane Lustig will entertain at the piano.

City of Hope and United Jewish Fund Sign Policy Agreement

The United Jewish Fund of San Diego and the City of Hope, Duarte, Calif., have signed an agreement fixing allocations and money raising policies of the local chapters, it was announced today by M. D. Goodrich, President of the Fund. Victor Carter of Los Angeles signed for the City of Hope.
The agreement reads in part: “The City of Hope shall be allocated $12,500 with yearly installments of not less than $2,500.00.
“The City of Hope or its local chapter will not conduct any fund raising campaign in San Diego county without the express approval of the United Jewish Fund.”
Albert A. Hutler, executive of the Fund, stated that the present excellent relationship between the City of Hope and the local Jewish Welfare Agencies will continue.

Pioneer Women, Negba Club, will start off their year’s activities with a Succoth Festival and Bazaar on Sunday, Sept. 27th at Beth Jacob Center. The Bazaar will be open all day so that the public can leisurely browse around the many displays and enjoy the good food which will be served cafeteria style. There will be special entertainment during the day so plan to reserve Sept. 27th for this worthy cause.
Chairman for this affair is Anna Shelley, co-chairmen, Eleanore Gordon, and Bertha Gaberman.
All members and friends are invited to a Garden Luncheon on Wednesday, August 26th at 12:30 noon at the home of Rose Domnmitz, 4755 51st St. Assisting hostesses who promise a delicious home-cooked lunch are Mrs. Pauline Press, Mrs. Rose Abrams and Mrs. Rose Weitzman. Proceeds from this luncheon are for the Moetzet Hapoalot fund. Reservations are requested. Call W-2020., Mrs. Press or W-2905 Mrs. Weitzman. Transportation will be furnished by calling T-1-8236.
