#128 -- My Award Winning Wife
#167 -- Harold
#214 -- Love Can't Be Seen Just By Looking

#128, My Award Winning Wife

My award winning wife--
My award winning wife--
She’s the joy of my life,
My award winning wife!

I knew I’d have a winning life
The day I wed my winning wife.
‘Cause she’s the kind who leads the race
And always ends in winning place.

My award winning wife--
My award winning wife--
She’s the joy of my life,
My award winning wife!

My winning wife just cannot lose
In any venture she may choose.
Her way of winning made its start
The winning day she won my heart.

My award winning wife--
My award winning wife--
She’s the joy of my life,
My award winning wife!

#167, Harold

"Harold" is my birthday name,
My mother's gift to me.
But "Harold" hardly seems to fit
My personality.

They call me "Mac;" they call me "Bud,"
When "Buddy" seems too long;
They call me "man" and even "Joe,"
'Though "Joe" 's entirely wrong.

Go to top of next column

Of all the names that I've been called
There's none that wouldn't do,
Although I always cringe a bit
When someone calls me "you."

"Harold" is my birthday name,
My mother's gift to me.
But "Harold" hardly seems to fit
My personality.
People call me lots of names,
Most of which are bad.
Few of them resemble much
The name I've always had.
But if you want to be a friend,
The kind I'd call a "pal,"
You can if when you talk to me,
You simply call me "Hal."

"Harold" is my birthday name,
My mother's gift to me.
But "Harold" hardly seems to fit
My vivacious. . .
My sagacious. . .
My flirtatious, perspicacious personality

#214, Love Can't Be Seen Just By Looking

You can't judge the sugar by viewing the cane
A pot can't reveal what it's cooking.
And 'though it's a shame,
With love it's the same,
For love can't be seen just by looking.

You can't judge the wine by the bottle it's in.
A book can't be known from its cover.
With persons you meet
Or pass on the street,
There's no way to judge them as lover.

So, if it is love that you're looking to find,
There's one thing that you must discover:
Forget outer part.
Get into the heart.
It's only the heart shows a lover.
