The S. D. Chapter of Hadassah will climax its yearly drive to keep the flow of desperately needed supplies rolling to new immigrants in Israel with a special “Linen Shower” on Wed., Dec. 9th, at Temple Beth Israel Center, Mrs. Al Solomon, Hadassah Supplies Chairman, announced. Guests are requested to bring a linen gift to the luncheon.
Since its founding in 1912, Hadassah has shipped millions of hospital linens, clothing and other supplies to its far-flung network of hospitals, clinics, health stations, and schools in Israel.
“Remember When” will be the program theme for the day with a series of flash-back scenes reviewing past days of the local chapter. A fashion fantasy will be presented with Mrs. Victor Selten as commentator, introducing models who will wear fashions of yesterday and today. The newer modes have been graciously donated to the chapter by prominent women in the community and a Hollywood star has generously consented to send a fashion from her personal wardrobe. All original designs, these gowns will be offered for sale at Hadassah’s Annual Rummage Sale next Spring.
Mrs. A.P. Nasatir will honor Hadassah’s founder the late Henrietta Szold, on the occasion of her birthday and the traditional lighting of Chanukah candies will highlight Mrs. Nasatir’s recitation. Mrs. Szold died in Palestine on Feb. 13, 1945.
Mrs. Robert S. Strauss, Pres., issues a cordial invitation to the entire community to attend this festive event and reservations may be made with her at F-5498.
