SAN DIEGO, CA — From the standpoint of research today was like yesterday, spent mainly in the reading room of the San Diego Historical Society's archives.  But to make it somewhat different, instead of parking on Park Ave., I parked just inside the park near 6th Street, then walked over the Cabrillo Bridge, with its fabulous view of downtown San Diego.  Although they were all familiar to me, proceeding west to east,  I enjoyed the sites including the dog exercise area, the bridge and California tower, the Atlantic-Pacific entryway (celebrating the Panama Canal); the salute to various San Diego pioneers including Marcus Schiller; the banners for the Museum of Man; the arcade of the House of Charm; the view of the House of Hospitality—all en route.  Returning to my car, I enjoyed looking at northbound 163 from the Cabrillo Bridge, lawn bowling, and the statue of Kate Sessions.  So here's my tour, with the only indoor photo being of the reading room at the archives:

Top Row: Dog exercise area, and downtown skyline from Cabrillo Bridge; 2nd Row: eastbound Cabrillo
Bridge leading to entryway and to California tower, and engineers plaque.  3rd Row: Two views of the

Ford; 8th row: advertising banner for the Old Globe Theatre and a view from Cabrillo Bridge of northbound State Route 163; 9th Row: Lawn Bowling area of Balboa Park.  10th Row: Statue and plaque for Kate Sessions, San Diego's pioneer horticulturalist.  {Donald H.
