November 1949"Tifereth Israel Sisterhood," Southwestern
Jewish Press, page 5: A hilarious comedy entitled Women in White will
be the attraction on the calendar of events for the Tifereth Israel Sisterhood
Luncheon to be presented Nov. 10, at 12 o'clock noon at Tifereth Israel
Synagogue, 30th and Howard Streets. The cast will include Sisterhood members:
Mesdames Sidney Smith, Harry Wax, Marco Ratner, Jennie Siner, Abe Smith and Sam
Druskin. The play will be directed by Mrs. Abe Ratner and Mrs. Monroe
Levens, program chairman. A delightful luncheon is being planned under the
capable chairmanship of Mrs.Wm Moss, assisted by the following board members:
Mesdames Sidney Newman, Monroe Levens, Laurence Cantor, Alex Newman,
Eddie Cantor, Sam Addleson, Wm Breitbard, David Doctor, Zel Greenberg, Paul

January 12, 1950 "Addlesons to Celebrate Golden Anniversary," Southwestern
Jewish Press, page 4: Mr. and Mrs. Louis Addleson of 3211 30th Street will
celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary on Sunday, January 15, 1950. A
celebration in their honor is being tendered the couple by their children at the
El Cortez Hotel Sunday evening at 8 p.m. Mr. and Mrs Addleson were married in
1900 at Warsaw, Poland, and came to the United States in 1902, where they lived
in Ogden, Utah, for 20 years and then moved to San Diego in August, 1927. Mr.
Louis Addleson has been engaged in the cattle business ever since his arrival in
San Diego. At the present time he is a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagels
No. 244 and is a board member of the Tifereth Israel Synagogue and is very
active in many of its activities. Fannie Addleson has been active in Jewish
community affairs for a number of years. She is a member of the Daughters of
Israel, the J.C.R.A. and has many varied interests. The following are the
children of Mr. and Mrs. Addleson: Samuel Addleson, Edward Addleson, Mrs. Harry
Wax, Mrs. Maurice Mackall of San Francisco, Mrs. Herbert Gordon, Mrs. William
Breitbard and Harry Addleson. At the present time, Mr. and Mrs. Addleson have 11
grandchildren. The reception and dance at the El Cortez Hotel being tendered the
anniversary couple by their children is expected to
attract more than 300 well-wishers. A 50th anniversary wedding ceremony will be
the highlight of the evening. Rabbi Monroe Levens of the Tifereth Israel
Synagogue will officiate.

times, the Tifereth Israel Sisterhood program theme "Fashions to Survive
Income Tax" will be presented at their annual installation of officers
March 14tha 12:30 p.m. luncheon at the Synagogue, 30th and Howard. Rabbi
Monroe Levens is to officiate in seating the following officers: Mesdames
Sidney Newman, reelected President for the ensuing year; Herman Sarfan, 1st Vice
President; Edward Cantor, 2nd Vice President; Sidney Smith, 3rd Vice President;
Henry Price, Corresponding Secretary; Marco Ratner, Recording Secretary;
Herman Tulchinsky, Treasurer; Lawrence Cantor, Financial Secretary; Zel
Greenberg and Alex Newman, Parliamentarians; Moss Addleson, Auditor; and Board
Members Sam Addleson, Wm. Breitbard, David Frank, Sam Geller, Sidney Goldstein,
Moe Hershey, Julius Levine, Harry Mallen, Wm. Moss, Paul Nestor, Frank Pomeranz,
Itz Penter, Abe Ratner, Woodrow Ratner, Harris Rubel, S. Rubin, Abe

Showers," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 3: Twenty-five guests were
present at the miscellaneous shower for Elene Gordon given by hostesess Mrs.
Wally Hirsh on November 28th. Elene was honored at another shower on
December 6th, arranged by her aunts Mrs. Wm Breitbard, Mrs. Harry Wax, Mrs. Rose
Mackall, Mrs. Edw. Addleson and Mrs. Sam Addleson. The miscellaneous shower was
held in the Don Room of the El Cortez and 60 guests were invited. Miss Gordon,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Gordon, will marry Herbert Solomon, son of MR.
and Mrs. Lewis Solomon on January 20th.
