March 27, 1947—Lou Mogy, "Around Town," Southwestern Jewish Press, Page 5: ...Did you know that Ann(e) Ratner, Sylvia Solof, Ida Beck and Sadie Berenson can be seen every Tuesday and Thursay morning playing Volley Ball at the San Diego Club?...

April 10, 1947—"UJF Workers Stepping Up Pace--To Reach Early Goal," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 1: "Coverage," the most important word in the campaign, will come to life when the 200 volunteer workers of the United Jewish Fund go out in full force to reach their prospects: ... Ann(e) Ratner

May 8, 1947—"The Way We Heard It," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 4: Mr. and Mrs. I. Goldberg of Glasgow, Scotland, in a trip around the world, stopped here to give regards from their relatives in New York to friends here. The relatives' friends are Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Solof, Dr. and Mrs. H. Kaufman, Mr. and Mrs. Abe Ratner, and Mr. and Mrs. Nate Ratner. While here the Goldbergs stayed at the Hotel del Coronado.

July 10, 1947—Lee C. Richards, "Sports," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 5: The fairways all around took quite a trampling over the Fourth week-end. Seen at the Mission Valley were the following men tangling with old man Par: Dr. Robert Stone, Abe Ratner, Ben Jacobson, Ben Rubin, Dr. Joe Rittoff, Lee Richards, Eli Levenson and many others...Some of the women are now taking their turn with the mashie and niblick: Evelyn Roberts, Lee Douglas and Ann Ratner are learning the game of golf—look out you par shooting males.

May 1949—"Tifereth Israel Sisterhood," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 4: "Mother's Day" was the theme of the May meeting of the Tifereth Israel Sisterhood. Mrs. Abe Ratner, assisted by Mrs. Monroe Levens, arranged an unusual fashion display. Fashions for grandmother, mother and daughter made available through the courtesy of the Sanford Dress Shop and Chenkins Youth Center were previewed. Models were Mesdames Louis Addelson, Harris Rubel, Betty Solomon, Harry Mallen, Morton Thaler, Misses Andrea Beck, Sherry Rae Newman, Elene Gordin and Pauline Ratner. Mesdames Sid Smith, Morris Pomeranz, Lester Cooper, Fred Kaufman, Morris Levenson and Ben Mallen were gracious hostesses.

June 1949—"Leaders Spur Activities to Complete 1949 Fund Drive," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 1: Led by the Women's Division, which concluded its "luncheon" drive last week, the United Jewish Fund 1949 "Year of Opportunity" Campaign has raised over $156,000.000 in pledges. Two hundred women were guests of Msdms. Jennie Burnett, Max Gardner, H.D. Goodrich, Jack Gross, Rodin Horrow, George Neumann, Sam Perlmutter, Abe Ratner, Victor Schulman, Abe Sklar, Esther Sommers, and Harry Snyder at a "no minimum" birthday party luncheon which raised $5,500 to bring the total women's contribution of over $35,000.000 or 87 percent of the goal they have set for themselves...

July 1949—1) Pearl Lieberman, "The Way We Heard It," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 4: The Abe Ratners, accompanied by their son and daughter, Pauline and Sandy, left June 20, for a trip through Alaska, stopping at Lake Louise on their way home. The Ratners expect to be gone a month. A farewell dinner was given them at the El Cortez Hotel before their departure."

2) "Friends Surprise Louis Bickmans," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 4: The Louis Bickmans (Sylvia) were officially "installed' in their new home at 5175 Roxbury Road, June 11, when friends surprised them with a no-host dinner party, and presented them with a portable barbecue cart. Attending were Anne and Jay Levine, Ruth and Mack Esterson, Natalie and Sid Smith, Mary and Mickey Stone, Lillian and Sid Newman, Ruth and Al Newman, Sadie and Milo Berenson, Jerry and George STarr, Rozelle and Dave Starr, Libby and All Krasnow, Diane and Frank Pomeranz, Anne and Abe Ratner, Sally and Nate Ratner, Tilly and Ben Gordon, Lillian and Otto Wiliamson, Ruth and Art Stone, and Sarah and Hod Harrow.
