VETERANS STAND-DOWN—Homeless veterans will be offered a variety of services, from haircuts to medical and legal assistance, at a three day "Stand Down" on the ball field of San Diego High School, 1405 Park Blvd, Friday, July 14 through Sunday, July 16. The project was begun here  in 1988 by Dr. Jon Natchison and Robert Van Keuren and has spread across the nation. (800) 729-0941.

JEWISH HUMOR—Cantor Deborah Davis will lead a program on Jewish humor at 10:30 a.m. at the Humanistic Jewish Congregation, meeting at the Women's Club of Carlsbad, 3320 Mornoe Ave. (858) 549-3088.
