| CALIFORNIA AKEDAH --During the High Holidays,
most congregations retell the story of the Akedah--when Abraham took Isaac
to Mount Moriah, thinking he would have to follow God's orders to slay
his son, only to be saved from the act at the last minute. In Santee, California,
the memory of the two patriarchs and the flags of the United States and
