Washington (special) -- U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) has called
upon the U.S. State Department to post rewards on its website for Palestinian
terrorists who have been identified as the killers of American citizens,
some of whom were also citizens of Israel. Schumer said it is wrong for
America to post rewards for other killers, but not for these.
Schumer said in a press release that the State Department has been considering
for two years whether to post rewards for Palestinian terrorists who kill
Americans and added: "We have waited long enough. It's time to act. Every
American who cares about our nation's fight against terrorism deserves
to see our government make every effort to bring terrorist killers of Americans
to justice."
The Israeli government has publicly identified 23 suspects in the killings
of 14 American citizens in Israel since 1993. Schumer said if America were
to offer rewards--as it does for killers in other terrorist incidents -it
would "certainly help entice those with knowledge of these terrorists whereabouts
to come forward." --- Donald
