2) "Obituaries," San Diego Jewish Times, page 29: Schenker,
Burton (Bud) Stewart, born June 3, 1926 and passed away Oct. 5, 2005. Mr.
Schenker was born in Detroit, MI. His family soon moved to Chicago where he and
his younger brother, Allan, grew up. Mr. Schenker joined the Navy in early 1945
and helped bring the Pacific troops home when the war ended. He attended USC and
graduated from UCLA. He taught junior high and high school, Sunday school and
adult education classes and was active in real estate. He was also involved in
the Men's clubs at Temple Solel, congregation Beth Israel, UJF and the BUNWC.
After retirement, he and his wife moved to La Jolla, where he played golf,
tennis, bridge and babysat his grandchildren. He was a loving and devoted family
man. Mr. Schenker is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sylvia; his three
daughters Barbara (Kent), Janet (Barry), Hilarie, six grandchildren and many
other relatives and friends. Services were held at Mt. Sinai Memorial Park in
Los Angeles. Rabbi David Frank of Temple Solel officiated. A memorial
service was held at Congregation Beth Israel, Rabbi Sheila Goloboy officiating.
