December 2005— "Book of Life,"
Defining Our Future, Annual Report 2005, (San Diego) Jewish Community
Foundation, pages 32-33: The Book of Life documents promises made by one
generation to the next to secure the future of the Jewish community. More than
110 people have inscribed their names in the Book of Life, expressing their
belief in and commitment to Jewish values and heritage, and ensuring that our
people will survive and flourish. The inscriptions, together with a portrait
photograph, detail the personal thoughts, passions and experiences that inspired
the gift of a Jewish legacy. Displayed prominently at the Jewish Community
Foundation, the Book of Life holds an ever-growing record of names and
legacies—a true portrait of our caring community. .... Book of Life Signers...

Diegans," San Diego Jewish Times, page 7: The 2006 Jewish Family
Service Annual Spring Gala Heart & Soul will be held on Saturday, April 1,
at the La Jolla Torrey Pines Hilton. This year's theme, "Love
Lessons," celebrates the accomplishments of the 2006 Mitzvah Awards
Honorees: Linda Janon, Hamilton Loeb Jr. and Jan Tuttleman. These three
individuals have shown vision, dedication and leadership to seeing unmet needs
fulfilled. The Heart & Soul Gala begins with a cocktail reception and
a silent auction followed by dinner, award ceremony and entertainment. Linda
Janon organized a small group of volunteers, which became the Mental Health
Committee of JFS.... From delivering hot kosher meals to homebound seniors to
chairing the JFS Senior Services Committee for the last 10 years, Hamilton Loeb
Jr., is dedicated to San Diego seniors in need. As chair of the Senior Services
Committee he has spearheaded the expansion of JFS regional senior centers to
four, instituted a senior transportation program called "Rides and
Smiles," and helped develop a nutrition program that currently prepares
meals for over 250 seniors each day. One of the accomplishments he feels most
proud of is helping to develop the Senior Services Planning Committee, under the
coordination of the UJF. Formed in 2001, the committee brings together all
the San Diego Jewish agencies that provide services to seniors, to share
information and carry out community planning. Motivated by the needs of
Jewish womenand girls in the community, Jan Tuttleman became the founding chair
of the Jewish Women's Foundation of San Diego...
