December 2005— "Create a Jewish Legacy," Defining Our Future, Annual Report 2005, (San Diego) Jewish Community Foundation, pages 28-30: Today, you work hard to provide for your family, to support the community, and to make a difference. You teach your children to be caring and generous and to connect with causes and organizations about which they feel passionate. You lead by example and ensure that the generations who follow will be taken care of, and will continue to build upon what you leave behind. Your strength in work and character live forever when you choose to Create a Jewish Legacy.  Since April 2004, more than 220 families have stepped forward through the Create a Jewish Legacy Program to promise an estimated $45 million to 35 different Jewish causes. Their promises today ensure that their individual commitment tot he community will live on in perpetuity for the benefit and improvement of Jewish life in San Diego, Israel and around the world. Options for Legacy gifts include: Simple bequest in will or trust; Outright gift, using appreciated assets or cash; Life insurance policy; IRA or pension plan; Pooled income fund; Charitable remainder trust; Charitable gift annuity... January 6, 2006—1) "In Memoriam: Rabbi Henry Soille," Kolenu (monthly newsletter of Soille San Diego Hebrew Day School), page 1:  This coming Thursday, Jan. 12 (12 Tevet) will mark the 11th yahrzeit of Rabbi Henry Soille, z"l. Rabbi Soille's incredible life spanned his tenure as a communal Rabbi in Paris prior to World War II, his efforts to save orphans and rescue survivors in the aftermath of the Holocaust, being principal of a Talmud Torah in Cleveland, and eventually settling in San Diego just in time to give input into the Torah studies program of our Hebrew Day School during its first years.  In April 1970 Hebrew Day School honored Rabbi Soille for "years of devoted service heading the school's Va'ad HaChinuch.'  His lifelong partner, Esther Soille, shared in every achievement. Rabbi Weiser remembers Rabbi Soille's regular visits to Hebrew Day School, his serving as a judge of the Mitzvah Fair, and his emotional joy at just visiting classrooms and observing Torah study take place.  Most recently, Sean Levi, parent of three Hebrew Day students, spoke about his friendship with Rabbi Soille. His vision and love of Torah remain a fixture of our school, which today proudly bears his name.  May his memory continue to count for a blessing."

2) "Off Learning," Kolenu, page 4:  Rabbi Weiser will be away from school for two days in mid-January to attend a Consortium of Jewish Educators conference titled: Applying Standards—Strengthening Day School Leadership. This two day program will feature presentations by Dr. Chaim Feuerman, Rabbi Noach Orlowek, and Rabbi Yoel Kramer. At the end of January, Torah Umesorah, the National Society of Hebrew Day Schools will hold its Mid-Winter Principals' Conference here in San Diego, and Rabbi Weiser is serving Host Principal.
