News Online. They're fun to ponder, but we'd urge anyone writing a book or an academic paper to carefully corroborate these "facts" before citing any of them. Here's the link.

J.J. Surbeck of Encinitas found exceptional an article in the June 25, 2009 issue of the Economist analyzing Arab economies and comparing them unfavorably to Israel's. If you can't find a back issue of the magazine in a library, you can order PDFs of the articles on line for a fee. Here's the link to access the paid material.

Gert Thaler of La Jolla, perusing our last edition, saw the "Double Talk" column by sisters Janet and Susan Solof from the 1953 edition of Southwestern Jewish Press, and was kind enough to add a postscript: "I smile a lot when I read the Solof girls 'column' and the teenage parties with people who were dating each other and know what roads they traveled and who they ended up with.  Tonight I noticed that a somebody’s teenage party there were two couples who actually made it to the altar from those teen parties, Iris and Matt Strauss and Deann and Lenny Bloom."
