A TASTY MORSEL

Chefs will have a 'grill off' at the Prado

SAN DIEGO—October is the month of Sukkot. In the Jewish tradition, it is so unreservedly joyful that it is commonly referred to in Jewish prayer and literature as Z'man Simchateinu, the Season of our Rejoicing. What better way to appreciate the gifts that Nature provides us than to come together to eat, drink, and be merry…(for tomorrow we may diet). Little wonder Sukkot is my favorite Jewish holiday!

In keeping with the celebration of Sukkot, The Prado at beautiful Balboa Park will host its 9th Annual Harvest Festival this Thursday October 15 from 5:00p – 9:00pm.

tastings of more than 50 wines from regional vineyards, opportunities to meet local wine makers, samplings of exotic spirits and local beers, and live cocktail demonstrations.

The Harvest Festival's first-ever Chef Grill-Off will take place at Balboa Park's lower garden terrace. The exclusive list of competing chefs includes: Kensington Grill's Hanis Cavin, Martini Media's Melissa Mayer and Top Chef Season 5 contestant, Rich Sweeney.

A portion of the event proceeds will go to Meals-on-Wheels of Greater San Diego.

Tickets are $59.95 per person in advance and $69.95 per person at the door. For more information about The Prado’s Harvest Festival, please visit,
