LA JOLLA, Calif —Expressions of love and support for Israel could be
found at the Jewish community rally on Sunday, July 23, not only among the
speakers who addressed the crowd, but within the crowd itself. Here are
some photos to augment the news story
of the event:
Flag-wavers—Hilda Pierce and Ruth Friedenberg, neighbors,
waved Israeli flags that were distributed at rally, while Alan Cooper
decorates his hat with the Israeli and American flags.
Political Shirts—Sharon Kruri displays a T-shirt distributed by Young Judaea
at the rally, while Jeff
Liber poses in his Israel Defense Forces souvenir T-shirt as Leslye Winkelman
stand at his side.
Photographer wears Young Judaea shirt, which very punnily explains the
organization is a Hadassah
subsidiary. Seated on either side of her are rally speakers Dan
Gardenswartz, chairman of the executive committee of the Anti-Defamation
League (in shorts) and Ken Polin, president of the United Jewish
Federation. Aaron Vakneen makes a tzedakah contribution for Israel, and
Samuel Camhi holds sign
during rally. Its message: "Palestinian schools teach children how
to die as a martyr. Teach them Math, Science, Art, love, respect. Teach them
to work. Love your children."
