61. "It's three carats."

jewishsightseeing.com,  June 1, 2006

As retold by Bruce Lowitt

Mordechai dies. He had $30,000 to his name. After the funeral home and burial, his widow, Rachel, tells her closest friend, "There's no money left."

"Rachel, there was thirty thousand. How could it all be gone?"

"Well, Mordechai had it all set up in the will. The funeral cost six thousand dollars, and there was the fifteen hundred he wanted donated to temple in his memory, and he set aside five hundred for the cost of sitting shiva, and the rest, he said, he wanted spent on a magnificent stone in his
memory."

The friend says, "Wait. Twenty-two thousand dollars for a memorial stone. My God, how big is it?"

And Rachel says, "It's three carats."
